We are in the middle of a major transition in the automotive world. Traditional gasoline-powered engines are losing more and more ground to electric motors, as they offer a cheaper and cleaner alternative to fossil fuels. For the time being, though, it seems like the best option is a car where the two technologies combine. The 2019 Fusion Hybrid is a great example of that.

Many Trims and Options to Choose From

The 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid is a sleek-looking sedan and comes in three different trim levels: SE, SEL, and Titanium. It’s an excellent car in any trim, as the standard model comes with features that are only optional on many other cars, such as 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and taillights, a push-button ignition, automatic headlights, adaptive cruise control, an 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, as well as many active safety features.

The other two trims bring even more features, like exterior visual upgrades, LED headlights, keyless entry, larger 18-inch wheels, elegant leather upholstery, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system, among many others.

Power and Performance

This front-wheel-drive midsize sedan is powered by a hybrid propulsion system that pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor, resulting in 188 horsepower. With the Fusion Hybrid being a spacious sedan, it was not constructed with sporty performance in mind. It does, however, manage to reach 60 mph from a complete standstill in a respectable 9 seconds. Its braking performance is also up to standard, needing only 123 feet to come to a complete halt from a speed of 60 mph.

Comfort and Technology

The 2019 Fusion Hybrid’s ride quality is a joy to behold. The seats are soft, but also manage to provide good posture and balance, while its suspension cancels out most bumps on the road. The interior comfort is completed by the excellent wind and road noise insulation and the well-adjusted dual-zoned climate control system. The wide-opening doors make it easy to get in and out and outside visibility is good from all angles.

From a technology standpoint, the Fusion Hybrid’s standard equipment will be more than enough for most drivers. The base version comes with Ford’s intuitive and easy to use Sync 3 infotainment system, making it easy to control most of the car’s main functions. Smartphone connectivity is a breeze, with options such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB ports.

Active Safety Features

With the 2019 Fusion Hybrid often being used as a family car, safety is a top priority. Ford knows that and the Fusion’s standard version comes with plenty of sophisticated active safety features that manage to help the driver notice and avoid any potential threat on the road. Standard safety features include a pre-collision warning system that automatically hits the brakes in case of incoming danger, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and a rearview camera.

Electric cars will probably be the vehicles of tomorrow, but hybrids are the ones of today. The 2019 Fusion Hybrid best exemplifies that, managing good road performance while also protecting the environment due to its low emissions.
