2018 Ford F-150 Lariat vs. King Ranch: Which Trim Should You Choose?

Lariat

The Lariat trim level is powered by a 3.7 Liter Ecoboost V6 engine paired with an electronic 10-speed automatic transmission that comes with Eco Select, Tow/Haul, Snow/Wet, and Sport modes. Towing is easy with the Lariat’s two-speed automatic four-wheel drive system with neutral towing capability, hill descent control, trailer brake controller, and electronic rear locking differential.

The exterior of the vehicle comes equipped with standard 18″ machined aluminum wheels with all-season tires, though you can upgrade up to 20-inch tires in either all-season or all-terrain. Daytime running lights, halogen headlights, and LED tailgate lights to illuminate your drive. You can choose from such exterior upgrades as box side steps, remote tailgate release, and chrome grill and accents.

The interior of the Lariat is filled with numerous extras both standard and optional that Ford lovers look forward to. The cab is equipped with Sync 3 entertainment technology that allows you to sync your phone with your system and stay connected to your phone and navigation apps. You also have the option of turning your system into a Wi-Fi hotspot and adding FordPass. You can also add a heated steering wheel and a suite of passive safety systems.

King Ranch

The King Ranch trim level comes with a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine that puts out 395 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. This model comes with the same towing features as the Lariat with the addition of trailer sway control. The vehicle also comes equipped with stop/start technology to make this powertrain as fuel efficient as possible.

At this trim level, the King Ranch’s exterior gets an upgrade as well with a chrome two-bar style grille, power folding side mirrors with memory features, LED box lighting, and two-tone paint. You can also opt to upgrade to a tailgate step, and tailgate lift assist along with other extras, such as a foldable pickup box bed extender, power-deployable running boards, and wheel lip moldings.

The interior of the King Ranch comes with many of the same standards as the Lariat such as dual-zone climate control and 10-way controlled power driver seat with memory. But at this trim level you will see such standard features as heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, reverse sensing system, and outside temperature display.
